MWNNA takes part annually in the United Nations International Day of Peace, Interfaith Prayer Service on 21 September at the Lindfield Uniting Church, 454 Pacific Highway Lindfield NSW.

The peace ceremony was presided by Rev. Mary Pearson.  UN representative, Dr Zeny Edwards read the peace message, and the Mayor of Ku-ring-gai, Councillor Jennifer Anderson gave her commentary.  The choir song, “A Blessing” by Jay Althouse was sung by students from  Newington College, and Choir song “For the “beauty of the earth” and “Look at the world” were sung by the Knox & Ravenswood schools’ combined choir Thirteen major religious faith groups took part in this event – Aboriginal, Bahai, Brahma Kumaris, Buddhist, Catholic, Christian Scientist, Hindu Council, Islam, Jews, Sikh, Sufi, Uniting Church, Zoroastrian. After the prayers, Elif-Nur Tor spoke about the religion of Islam, which means peace, and current turmoil carried out in the name of Islam is NOT the preaching of Islam. Hundreds of Candles were lit representing all the nations of the world, in contemplation for Peace in each of those countries.

The following Islamic Peace Prayer was recited by Zubeda Raihman:  

Arabic:

Asalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahe Wa Baraktahu  

“Bismillah-hir-rahman ni Raheem. Allahumma antassalaam, wa minkassalaam, wa Alaika yerjessalaam. Hayyena rabbana bissalame waádhkilna darassalaame tabarakta rabbana wa taälaita ya zaljalal-i-walikram” Ameen.  

Translation:  

In the name of God, the beneficent the merciful.  

Oh Allah! You are peace personified; you are the source of peace for all other creatures; peace always turns towards Thee. Oh Creator and Sustainer! keep us alive with peace, and let us enter the Home of Paradise. Oh Lord! Oh Possessor of awe and honor! You are sublime and bounteous. So be it Oh Lord.

“You will not enter Paradise until you believe,  And you will not believe, until you love one another, And you will not love one another until you promote peace among you.  Silent reflection: “Let peace fill our hearts, our world and our universe.”
